Card personalization and data protection
This process involves adding unique information to the card, such as the cardholder’s name, account number, expiration date and other relevant details. Card personalization plays a key role in ensuring the correct functioning of different types of cards, so data security and confidentiality are essential. Personalization can be optical (printing, embossing, laser engraving…), data related (magnetic stripe, chip, dual chip…), PIN printing, printing and packaging of envelopes or special packaging, delivery…). ETRANET Group has extensive and thorough experience in card personalization services for various business sectors, along with numerous references.
Embossing or printing

Embossing or printing: Card personalization often involves embossing or printing the cardholder’s name, account number, and other relevant information on the card’s surface. This makes the card unique for each individual user.

Encoding with a magnetic stripe or chip
Payment cards often have magnetic stripes or embedded microchips that store encrypted data. During personalization, these data storage components are encoded with information related to the cardholder’s account and permissions.
Security features
Personalized cards can include security features such as holograms, UV ink, or other visual elements that help prevent counterfeiting and unauthorized use.
Photograph and signature
Identification cards, such as employee badges or official personal identification cards, may include a photograph and the cardholder’s signature for additional security and identification.
Variable data printing
Variable data printing allows customization of each card with unique information.
Personal Identification Number (PIN)
In the case of debit or credit cards, personalization may involve assigning a unique PIN to the cardholder for additional security during transactions.
Contactless technology
Some cards, especially access cards, may contain contactless technology such as RFID, allowing for quick and secure authentication without physical contact with the reader.
